07 Nov Behind The Scenes: With Crystal James!
We’re thrilled to introduce a new series that steps into the lives of our members. Often times, especially during this time of the year, our photographer members find themselves wearing many hats to keep up with the busyness of this season. We’re photographing, managing finances, scheduling field trips with our kids, managing client orders, attending Fall festivals, running studio and staff members, and the list goes on. This will be a fun series that gives us a glimpse on what our members are doing behind the scenes running a busy studio and family life.
Our first member feature is Crystal James of Tiny Heart Studios.
Like most photographers, the last couple months have been loaded with beautiful families, tons of sessions, and many late nights doing all of the “magic” behind the scenes. This year was a bit different for me, mostly because my fall season has been dominated by newborns. I’m so thankful for my studio because I have a cozy place to invite my families in, with everything I need right at hand. The studio allows me to have flexible sessions with some newborn posing, some lifestyle shots, and even a beautiful outdoor space for variety with extended family and siblings. An added bonus is that I can offer everyone beverages and snacks, and a comfy place to relax while I work on getting amazing images. I use the same space for my in person ordering sessions, so clients can also spend time looking at all of the amazing products I offer.
But that is only part of the story right? After the session is over, there is so much more that goes into the process. I enjoy the process of culling and editing the final images and creating a final product that I am proud to present to my clients. And the finishing touch for all of that is fulfillment. For me it’s a time consuming task because I put so much effort into the details. I use archival mats to finish each print, which are signed, dated, and then individually wrapped. I package all items with branded cards, ribbons, boxes and tiny details because I want my clients to feel special and appreciated. Presentation matters!
