06 Apr Session Share: Fairy-Tale Home!
Inspiration: Our inspiration for this session was definitely the location. This lovely home had a fairy-tale quality with the whimsical decor, muted tones and sloped ceilings. Typically, we don’t scout locations before sessions, so we never know what to expect. We hit the jackpot with the natural light available in this house. We immediately knew how we wanted to use the light and process the final images. We wanted the final product to have a dreamy vibe that reflected coziness of the day.
Favorite Element: Our goal is to capture relationships. And we firmly believe that you can’t have a powerful photograph without finding the “heart and soul” of your subjects. Most definitely, the favorite element of this session was the interaction of the parents with their daughters. In particular, it warmed our heart to watch daddy love on his little girls. Some of our favorite images were outtakes when he was snuggling or caring for the twins.
Biggest Challenge: Our biggest hurdle was working with infants that could not yet sit on their own. This was a minor challenge that required some strategic posing with a spotter sitting close by to catch a swiftly tilting baby.
What the Client Said: “Love, love, love! A favorite image? I couldn’t possibly choose one.”
Photographers’ Final Words: The best part of our job is meeting new people. We are so blessed to have the great fortune of working with some really terrific families. We usually leave sessions making new friends and becoming very connected to our clients. And that’s important. Again, we don’t think you can truly capture someone’s personality if you don’t connect with them. We love our clients, and we hope that it shows.
