14 Aug NAPCP Judge Christine Pobke's Tips & Advice
NAPCP is currently hosting it’s bi-annual International Image Competition. Selecting images for submission is critical and can often times be an overwhelming process for our members. We’ve reached out to our distinct panel of judges for expert advice on what they look for specifically in an award winning image. We’re thrilled to begin with Christine Pobke of Pobke Photography.
What I Look For in An Award Winning Image – by Christine Pobke
I think there are lots of things that make an image really stand out for me… But time and time again, the images that remain with me (sometimes for years!) are the ones that tell a story, make an impact, provide an interesting point of view and sometimes even make me laugh (or cry).
1. Tell a story: Are there recognizable, authentic scenes of life that invites the viewer to imagine their own story within the image?
2. Make an impact: Does the image have an immediate emotional charge?
3. Point of view: The craft of perspective… Does the angle, composition or framing unveil something new or interesting about the image?
Thanks so much! Looking forward to seeing all the amazing and wonderful images in the competition! 🙂
